Brown FC (Kipper Brown) is a synthetic azo dye historically used in the UK to color smoked fish, particularly kippers. Its food use is now extremely limited and it is not approved as a general-purpose food colorant across the EU or in the US. It should not be confused with the more widely used Brown HT (E155).
